Principal’s Message

Dear Students, Staff, Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome back for a fresh start to the 2018 educational school year.

I hope you have had a great summer holiday, enjoyed the warm weather, and spent some memorable time with your loved ones and families.

I am thrilled that the 2018 school year has started so positively, and all staff, students, and parents are keen on bringing their dreams, expectations and positive vibes with them.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new students - especially our year 7s - and new staff members. I wish them all a smooth and easy transition with the support of the great, Sirius College family.

Our school information system, SEQTA, is now up and running. You can access almost everything related to any learning program studied at the school through here, and should check SEQTA regularly for any update and follow up especially for upcoming assessments. It will also give you the power to monitor individual progress throughout the year.

I am happy to announce that the installation of new covered walkways has been completed. During wet weather it will provide comfortable access to the portables. Also, we have just started the planning of indoor gymnasium to be built. Once there is progress to this project, I will inform the whole school community.

I would like to thank each and every student, parent, and staff member for their contribution to shape the school by participating in surveys. As a reflection of last year’s survey results, we have made a change in the curriculum to offer new LOTE subjects like French and Arabic, besides Turkish, for our Year 7 students. This has been extended to year 8 this year and will be offered for the upper grades gradually. In addition, we reintroducing weekly whole school assemblies on Mondays, and we will be focusing on student behaviour throughout the year.

I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate our graduates on their successful completion of VCE. One more time they have proven that it is not ‘chance’ but the hard-work and effort that pay back well.

30 students from all campuses received an ATAR score above 90, and 10 of them were from our campus - the highest being 99.70

In addition to this, four students - Rami Dennaoui and Sannan Nadir from Class of 2017, Mahmoud Kashoa and Osman Isik from Year 11, now in Year 12 - got perfect scores, 50 out of 50, from their respective subjects. Well done boys! Once again I congratulate our students, their parents, and staff members, on this outstanding success.

In the past ten years, 2017 was one of the most successful years. This success has taken the Meadow Fair Campus 39 steps up in ranking, resulting in our school being the most improved school amongst all independent schools in Victoria. I am so excited to share the pride with you.

Looking forward to a wonderful 2018,

Mr. Omer Ayvaz
Principal
